A RESOLUTION


Recognizing and commending Mr. Timothy R. Mitcham; and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, our nation's security continues to rely on patriotic men and women who put their personal lives on hold in order to place themselves in harm's way to protect the freedoms that all United States citizens cherish; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Timothy R. Mitcham has long been recognized by the citizens of this nation for the vital role that he has played in leadership and his deep personal commitment to the welfare of the citizens of the United States; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Mitcham began his military career with the United States army in 1980, attended boot camp at Fort Leonard Wood, graduated from Warrant Officer School at Fort Rucker in 1981, and received Cobra operations, helicopter, and fixed wing training; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Mitcham demonstrated great strength, leadership, and courage during Operation Desert Storm, serving in the army's C Company as an AH-64 Apache Attack Helicopter pilot, where his bravery and skill resulted in the capture of over 250 enemy soldiers; and

WHEREAS, his extraordinary service, courage, and heroism were recognized with a Legion of Merit, a Distinguished Flying Cross, the Bronze Star, and numerous other medals and awards; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Mitchum's sense of duty and service did not end on the battlefield, as he currently serves his state and community as an air ambulance pilot for Emory Flight; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Mitchum embodies the spirit of service, willing to find meaning in something greater than himself, and his 20 year service as a guardian of this nation's freedom and liberty is worthy of recognition.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES that the members of this body commend Mr. Timothy R. Mitchum for his efficient, effective, unselfish, and dedicated public service to the citizens of his country and extend their most profound appreciation to him and all members of the United States military who stand ever ready to lay the ultimate sacrifice upon the altar of freedom.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk of the House of Representatives is authorized and directed to transmit an appropriate copy of this resolution to Mr. Timothy R. Mitcham.
