1 | AN ACT concerning education.

2 | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
| ||||||
3 | represented in the General Assembly:
| ||||||
4 | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section | ||||||
5 | 2-3.176 as follows:
| ||||||
6 | (105 ILCS 5/2-3.176 new) | ||||||
7 | Sec. 2-3.176. Work-based learning database. | ||||||
8 | (a) In this Section, "work-based learning" means an | ||||||
9 | educational strategy that provides students with real-life | ||||||
10 | work experiences in which they can apply academic and technical | ||||||
11 | skills and develop their employability. | ||||||
12 | (b) The State Board must develop a work-based learning | ||||||
13 | database to help facilitate relationships between school | ||||||
14 | districts and businesses and expand work-based learning in this | ||||||
15 | State.

16 | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon | ||||||
17 | becoming law.
