HOUSE RESOLUTION
2 WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Maureen
4Wener of the Village of Deerfield, who passed away on June 2,
52023; and
6 WHEREAS, Maureen Wener was born in Chicago; she earned an
7undergraduate degree from the University of Kansas and a
8master's degree from Northeastern University; and
9 WHEREAS, Maureen Wener led a tremendous career as a public
10servant, taking her first position in public service as a
11legislative chief of staff in 1999; and
12 WHEREAS, Maureen Wener previously served as a trustee and
13president of the Deerfield Library Board, and she also served
14on its Executive Committee; she was instrumental in the
15creation of the Deerfield Public Library 2017-2019 Strategic
16Plan, which enhanced the reputation of the library by
17implementing improvements and innovative services to maintain
18the library as a thriving part of the community; and
19 WHEREAS, Maureen Wener additionally served her community
20through her election to the Deerfield Public School District
21109 Board of Education, where she served as secretary; and

1 WHEREAS, Maureen Wener was a mentor and friend to everyone
2who knew her, reforming the community through education and
3her commitment to helping those who needed it most; and
4 WHEREAS, Maureen Wener will be remembered as a wife and
5mother who dedicated her life to supporting her family and
6serving her community; therefore, be it
7 RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE ONE
8HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that
9we mourn the passing of Maureen Wener and extend our sincere
10condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved
11her; and be it further
12 RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13presented to the family of Maureen Wener as an expression of
14our deepest sympathy.
