A BILL TO BE ENTITLED

AN ACT authorizing New Hanover County to impose a privilege license tax in limited circumstances.

The General Assembly of North Carolina enacts:

SECTION 1.  G.S. 153A‑152 is amended by adding a new subsection to read:

"(a1)     Video Sweepstakes Devices. – A county may levy an annual privilege license tax on computer terminals or any other video display devices that are used to reveal sweepstakes entries or to play games of chance, and which reward players with either further game credits, cash, or prizes."

SECTION 2.  This act applies only to New Hanover County.

SECTION 3.  This act is effective when it becomes law.
