        AN ACT to amend the criminal procedure law, in relation  to  designating
          physicians  employed  by  a municipal police department while deployed
          with the special weapons and tactics team, as peace officers
          The People of the State of New York, represented in Senate and  Assem-
        bly, do enact as follows:
     1    Section  1.  Section  2.10 of the criminal procedure law is amended by
     2  adding a new subdivision 84 to read as follows:
     3    84. A licensed physician employed by a  municipal  police  department,
     4  while  deployed  with  the  special  weapons  and tactics team, and when
     5  performing their duties; provided, however, that nothing in this  subdi-
     6  vision  shall  be  deemed  to  authorize such officer to carry, possess,
     7  repair or dispose of a firearm unless the appropriate  license  therefor
     8  has been issued pursuant to section 400.00 of the penal law.
     9    § 2. This act shall take effect immediately.
