relating to admission of certain students to an open-enrollment | ||
charter school. | ||
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF TEXAS: | ||
SECTION 1. Section 12.117, Education Code, is amended by | ||
adding Subsection (d) to read as follows: | ||
(d) Notwithstanding Section 12.111(a)(13), an | ||
open-enrollment charter school may admit a child of an employee of | ||
the school as provided by this section regardless of whether the | ||
child resides in the geographic area served by the school. | ||
SECTION 2. This Act applies beginning with the 2019-2020 | ||
school year. | ||
SECTION 3. This Act takes effect immediately if it receives | ||
a vote of two-thirds of all the members elected to each house, as | ||
provided by Section 39, Article III, Texas Constitution. If this | ||
Act does not receive the vote necessary for immediate effect, this | ||
Act takes effect September 1, 2019. | ||
