R E S O L U T I O N
         WHEREAS, Victoria Velazquez of Lasara has distinguished
  herself as a member of the first cohort of Luminary Scholars at The
  University of Texas Rio Grande Valley; and
         WHEREAS, This noteworthy scholarship program covers tuition
  and fees for four years of undergraduate education as well as
  additional years of professional or graduate studies; the program
  was unveiled in 2021 with the goal of improving student success and
  increasing educational opportunities; and
         WHEREAS, To earn selection as a Luminary Scholar, students
  must demonstrate exceptional academic ability, responsibility and
  leadership, and community involvement while in high school, and
  participants also commit to working in the Rio Grande Valley
  following their graduation; enrolled in the Vaqueros MD program,
  Ms. Velazquez is currently studying biology at UTRGV; and
         WHEREAS, Throughout her academic career, Victoria Velazquez
  has displayed admirable dedication and perseverance in the pursuit
  of her goals, and she may indeed reflect with great pride on her
  outstanding record of achievement; now, therefore, be it
         RESOLVED, That the House of Representatives of the 88th Texas
  Legislature hereby honor Victoria Velazquez for her
  accomplishments as a Luminary Scholar at The University of Texas
  Rio Grande Valley and extend to her sincere best wishes for
  continued success; and, be it further
         RESOLVED, That an official copy of this resolution be
  prepared for Ms. Velazquez as an expression of high regard by the
  Texas House of Representatives.
