HOUSE BILL NO. 931
AMENDMENT IN THE NATURE OF A SUBSTITUTE
(Proposed by the House Committee for Courts of Justice
on February 10, 2010)

A BILL to require the Supreme Court of Virginia to consult and coordinate with adjacent states regarding protective order forms.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. §1. That The Executive Secretary of the Supreme Court shall, on an annual basis, consult with the appropriate judicial authorities of adjacent states, and may consult with the appropriate judicial authorities of any other state, concerning the forms used in connection with the issuance of protective orders under the laws of the other states and pursuant to this title, §20-103, or Chapter 9.1 (§19.2-152.8 et seq.) of Title 19.2. The Executive Secretary shall, to the extent feasible under the laws of the Commonwealth, coordinate the contents of such protective order forms with other states in order to facilitate the enforcement of foreign protective orders in the Commonwealth and the enforcement of Virginia protective orders in other states.
