A BILL FOR AN ACT

 

 

relating to Health.

 

 

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF HAWAII:

 


            Section 1.  The purpose of this Act is to effectuate and ensure that the proper policy is in place to address the current threat to public health by the coronavirus outbreak from China.

SECTION 2. The Department of Health shall work with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), public health officials and the US Customs & Border Protection (CBP), to coordinate any required health and safety related measures to protect the health and welfare of the people of Hawaii. Review of all relevant screening measures may be requested for passengers coming from Southeast Asia, if originating from China. The Department of Health shall work with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)to execute enhanced screening of individual passengers from China for signs of the coronavirus.  Government officials and other health responders in Hawaii shall communicate and share information to prevent the spread of the coronavirus in Hawaii.

     SECTION 3.  This Act shall take effect upon its approval.
